Interoperability Challenges: Mutualisation or Federation of Resources?

Summary

Allowing access to digital resources and content, to components produced by one or more institutions in a variety of environments presupposes a high level of interoperability. Open source solutions are currently available to support archiving, documentation and online teaching e-services.

After distinguishing between the “mutualisation” and “federation” of digital resources, the round table will take into account the respective initiatives taken in France and Europe in the area of education in order to facilitate data dissemination and the construction and development of sharing communities.

The following approaches will be illustrated:
• OKI (Open Knowledge Initiative) – MIT
• RIT (Referencing and Indexing Tool) – OAI
