Design of web sites, institution portals and services: contributions from web 2.0, cognitive sciences and audience measurement

TB6 - Scientific programme scheduled for December 11

From 14:00 to 15:30 at the "Salle E"

Summary

Over the last few years, web sites and intranets have become strategic vectors for information and communication inside and outside higher education institutions. They are now the main access point for digital services, corresponding to administrative, technical and pedagogic activities.
The round table will focus on the conceptual models that govern the production of web sites and institution portals, the contribution of cognitive sciences to the interface design and the knowledge of navigation and usage styles. It will give web-masters pieces of information that are of benefit when adapting navigation to fit users’ needs.
The round table will pay specific attention to institutional portals and institutions’ digital services portals; it will also focus on the effects caused by web 2.0: dynamising contents, creating collaborative spaces, modernising and personalising the digital working environment.
The question of evaluation criteria for higher education institution web sites, their classification, how their visibility is measured, their audience and their impact will be tackled using the results of international webometric studies.
The creation of an observatory will be announced.
